Quit the whining - please!?
Whilst I completely understand the annoyance of such weather in the UK, I find it amusing that something as simple as some snow can bring out the miserables in so many people. I know that people can't get to work, I understand some people are stuck in their homes, but this sort of thing is meant to bring the humanity out in people. First thing I did when I saw the snow on Monday morning was ring an elderly friend of mine and asked if she needed anything picking up. I then spent the day I was meant to be working, outside admiring the beauty of the streets and nearby hills. I went to neighbours, cleared their pathways and helped stranded drivers move their cars to safety.
Instead of crying, go and make the most of the 'bad' situation. Take the kids to the park and failing that play in the street with them. Go visit a nearby friend or relative, maybe you can clear their drive way. Do not watch the news, or read the papers; they bring you down even more. The BBC News has had some miserable headlines this week, save for the odd spattering of nice stories.
Yes it's a pain to put up with but you, we, can make the best of this and actually enjoy it. If you can enjoy it, get the heck out there and help someone, it may warm you up a little.
